GRANITE
It is one of the hardest and strongest stone found in nature and with a good polish it resists weathering and acid rain. This makes it suitable for ornamental purposes, grave stones, benches, pavements, landscaping elements and more.

Granite
It is a coloured and grainy igneous rock formed through the slow crystallization of magma underneath the earth’s surface. The composition of the stone majorly includes quartz (it is a mineral composed of Silicon and oxygen, abundantly found on earth’s crust and is highly resistant to chemical and physical weathering) and feldspar (a wide group of rock forming silicate materials and very common in earth’s crust) with smaller amount of mica, amphiboles and other minerals. These mineral compositions determine the colour of the granite varying from black, grey, red, yellow and blue.

India being one of the leading exporters of granite has a wide variety categorized majorly into Northern Granite and Southern Granite depending upon the location of extraction.
Northern Granite
Northern Granite is extracted majorly in Rajasthan, Orissa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Some of the quarried granites of northern India are Jhansi Red, Imperial Red, P White, Brown Dessert, Grey Narlai, Black Markino, MP Black Pearl, Rajasthan Black, Crystal Yellow, Crystal Blue, Alaska White and so on.

Southern Granite
Southern Granite quarries are located in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. These granites include Absolute Black, Black Galaxy, New Kashmir White, Vizag Blue, Black pearl, Steel Grey, Viscount White, Colonial White, Imperial Gold and many more.
Polished granite slabs with a thickness of 20 – 30 mm are suitable for flooring while 10 to 12mm thick tiles are used for cladding.
