LIMESTONE

Limestone is a sedimentary rock with a major mineral composition of calcium carbonate or calcite. It is of two types biological sedimentary rock and chemical sedimentary rock. It is majorly composed of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite (almost 50%), other minerals that make limestone are quartz, feldspar and other particles such as chert, pyrite, siderite and more.

Properties & Purpose

In India different variety of limestone are used for wall cladding, flooring, window sills, vanity tops for all kind of architectural projects both indoors and outdoors. It can be easily assembled in high traffic areas of commercial and service buildings such as shopping centres and hospitals. The limestone provides a rustic ambience to an outdoor seating. The play between polished, semi-polished and unpolished stone can create wonders to a space depending upon he purposes.

Location & Colour

Altogether, the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh comprises of more than half of Indian limestone production. Some of the different limestones available in the market are Kota Blue, Kota Brown, Jaisalmer Yellow, Kota Honey, Lime Green, Lime Pink, T Grey, Cuddapah Black.
