One may call it a "Gold Stone". The sole reason being the color, its brilliant tan or yellow colour makes it distinctive from other.

Sandstone
Sandstone is also a sedimentary rock formed by the accumulation of sand particles either by water or by air. This is then compacted by several layers of deposition and cemented by the percolation of minerals over a period of time. The most common cementing minerals are silica and calcium carbonate.
Application & Colour
It is a popular building material and housewares since the ancient times. Its is a relatively soft stone making it very suitable for carving ornamental pieces like statues, fountains, jallis, jharokas and more. Some type of sandstones are resistant to weathering making a very suitable paving material. The friable nature of the stone also makes it suitable for grindstones and other such uses.
Apart from its brilliant yellow and tan color, it is also available in colors like pink, red, grey, brown, tan and white.


Availability
India has an abundant and wide spread availability, where Rajasthan holds the largest sedimentary formations that are spread across 17 districts of the state.
Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Karnataka, Orrisa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal also contribute in the availability of the stone.
